Today is #SELday 2024. Remember to reflect on these Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. We encourage you to showcase SEL work in your community, promote SEL to your networks, advocate for SEL with your local policymakers, and support SEL in your local schools, organizations, and community.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is about more than recognizing emotions and being sensitive to others. SEL focuses on problem solving, identifying ones own strengths, communicating clearly, teamwork, and much more. SEL skills benefit students beyond the classroom and help them become productive members of society.
Did you know that there are 37 schools in our region that participate in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) action planning through ROE #30? These groups meet on a regular basis to share resources, learn new strategies, and plan how to share SEL with students and staff in their schools. In honor of National SEL Week (March 4th-8th), we want to thank the schools that participate in this very important work that helps our students prepare for the future.
