Last Friday marked the last official day for Sherri Schimpf as the Assistant Regional Superintendent for ROE 30. After an impactful career as an elementary teacher, alternative school principal, and assistant regional superintendent, Mrs. Schimpf is retiring (at least from full time work - we know the drive remains to help students).
The ROE 30 Team has enjoyed having Mrs. Schimpf helping lead the office and her energy, positivity, and professionalism will be difficult to duplicate. We appreciate the dedication to our office's efforts over the past several years and recognize the positive difference that Mrs. Schimpf made by choosing education as a career path. Thank you and congratulations Sherri Schimpf!

While schools throughout our region, state, and nation were out today in honor of Veterans Day, many of the communities in our region have events to recognize those who have served our country.
One of those events is the Veterans Day Parade held in Du Quoin. Today several members of the ROE 30 office team (and family members) participated in the parade and distributed mini-biographies of World War II era veterans from Du Quoin and the surrounding area.
These mini-bios (shown in the attached images) were excepted from the book, "Du Quoin's Greatest Generation", produced by the Du Quoin Rotary Club (now the Volunteer Foundation of Du Quoin) in 2010 in cooperation with Du Quoin High School and used with permission.
This group is just a sample of the the total representation in the book but we hope to bring more in the years ahead. In Du Quoin, and in all of our communities, this was indeed a great generation who answered the call to service.

After enjoying Halloween with students, early childhood teachers from across the area attended a PD event provided by Denise Henry of StarNET. They spent the afternoon learning about intentional questioning and using play in the classroom.
